How I started

Geoff Smith
Founder and Director

About Me

I have always been passionate about Rugby League, from playing the sport to coaching and developing talent.

Played for Blacktown City A grade, Blacktown Workers A grade, Blacktown St Patricks also at A grade level. Division 1 Blacktown was a feeder to Penrith Panthers.

2007 – League Safe trainer at St Mary’s under 14’s then onto a level 1 trainer at Minchinbury Jets in 2010.
2010 – Coached a team that were promoted from 3rd division to 2nd division and ended up finishing 3rd in the 2nd division

Rugby League has always been a science to me. I was approached by Windsor Wolves where I guided the U16s team to a premiership winning team.

2012 to 2015 – Rugby League talent Recruitment Consultant for the Nitro Talent Group. Identifying talent in Penrith and Parramatta districts and identified players for the Nitro Talent Group Rugby League Academy.

2019 to 2020 – Competitive Edge Management Player Welfare Manager

2020 – NRL accredited Player Agent with Competitive Edge Management

2022 – Director of Platinum Sports Management

Skills: Highly developed interpersonal communication and negotiation skills. Team player, highly motivated strong achiever. Coaching and player development skills. Holds current Working with Children certification.

Background: Extensive experience as a player, trainer, coach and in player recruitment in various roles:

Brings:Years of experience in all facets of Rugby League. Knowledge and professionalism. A passion for player success in all aspects of their career both on and off the field.

Ryan Jones

Player Development Officer

Skills: Coaching and player development. Holds current Working with Children certification.

Background: Heavily involved in the Penrith area as a player, and coach for over 25 years.

Brings: Youth connection with all nationalities across all areas. Knowledge of the game and experience helping young players developing their pathways.

Carly Wilkin

Player Development Officer

Background:I’ve always been passionate about rugby league having lots of family and friends play!
When i was 14 Saint Mary’s had their first under 16 girl competition and I was jumping out of my skin to pull up my footy socks and have my first run. At the time I didn’t think much would come from footy (other than having fun) but little did I know that it was only up from there! Now I’ve had the opportunity to be selected in:

  • Development squad Canberra Raiders 2018,2019
  • Tasha gale cup Canberra Raiders 2019,2020,2021
  • Harvey Norman Newcastle 2022
  • Harvey Norman Central coast roosters 2022
    (I started at Newcastle and transferred to central coast.)
  • Monaro cults ( Currently 2023 )

Brings: Looking back I’m so proud of taking those first steps at saints…but this is only the start!, Now I’m apart of the platinum family and have more support, equipment and opportunities then ever!
The women’s game is booming and I’m excited to lay the path for the younger girls and make the older generation proud…oh and to show the boys what we’re really made of!
My goal is to be on the big screen! and now that dream doesn’t feel so far away.

Skills: Over 20+ years experience playing, coaching and mentoring. Holds current Working with Children certification.

Background: Rugby League experience.

Kylie Smith

Operations
Manager

Skills: Highly developed organisation, communication and managerial skills.

Background: Player, coach and manager local netball including at representative level.

Brings: Over 26 years of managerial experience in service delivery, leading high performing teams.

Fred Epati

Player Development Officer

Skills: Coaching, training and player development for over 10 years. Holds current Working with Children certification.

Background: Involved with junior Rugby League in the Parramatta district for over 10 years as a coach and trainer.

Brings:Experience and knowledge of Rugby League within the junior development age groups. Helping young players develop through to representative pathways.

Mission

When I was previously working with other managers, it’s been an amazing experience to see how players can ride the highs and lows of this game. My mission is to be a positive influence in the lives of all players, guiding them towards their goals with integrity and professionalism. I want to foster a family network – which includes parents, siblings & children-to have strong values that will carry on through generations
